A fast-growing vine with trailing stems that can reach lengths of 4–6 feet or more.

Forms a full, dense curtain of foliage in a hanging basket, about 1–2 feet wide.

Ideal for a hanging basket in a bright, sunny window where it can receive the light it needs to change color.

Features beautiful, teardrop-shaped leaves. In lower light, the leaves are a deep green with visible reddish veins. When exposed to bright, direct sun ('sun stressed'), the leaves transform to a stunning, deep reddish-burgundy.

Flowering Period & Fruit

A reliable bloomer, producing delicate, ball-shaped clusters of fuzzy, creamy-white, star-shaped flowers. The blooms have a sweet, cinnamon-like fragrance.

Sun Tolerance

Requires very bright, indirect light. To achieve the beautiful red foliage, it needs several hours of direct sun. Protect from intense, hot midday sun.

Maintenance

Easy. A drought-tolerant plant. Water thoroughly only when the soil is completely dry. It thrives when pot-bound, which encourages flowering. Do not remove old flower spurs (peduncles), as it will re-bloom from them.

Root System

An epiphytic root system that requires a very chunky, airy, and fast-draining potting mix to prevent rot.
