A strong, vining plant with trailing or climbing stems that can reach lengths of 8–12 feet or more.
Mature width
The vines create a full, cascading display in a hanging basket or will readily cover a trellis.
Spacing
Best grown in a hanging basket to allow its vines with large, round leaves to trail, or on a sturdy trellis for it to climb.
Evergreen/Deciduous
Evergreen
Foliage
Features distinctive, large, thick, and waxy leaves that are nearly perfectly round. The deep green leaves are heavily covered in irregular silvery-white or pinkish speckles, known as 'splash'.
Flowering Period & Fruit
Once mature, it produces beautiful, ball-shaped clusters of fuzzy, pale pink flowers with a reddish corona. The blooms have a strong, sweet, floral fragrance.
Sun Tolerance
Prefers bright, indirect light. A spot with some gentle, direct morning sun will encourage flowering and increase the silvery splash on the leaves.
Maintenance
Easy. A drought-tolerant plant that is great for beginners. Water thoroughly only when the soil has dried out completely. It flowers best when kept pot-bound. Do not remove old flower spurs (peduncles).
Root System
An epiphytic root system that requires a very chunky, airy, and fast-draining potting mix to prevent rot.
