Plant Details:

Mature height

A vining plant with trailing or climbing stems that can reach lengths of 6–10 feet or more.

Mature width

The vines will create a full, beautiful display in a hanging basket or can be trained to climb a trellis.

Spacing

Best grown in a hanging basket to allow its vines to trail, or on a trellis where its unique leaves can be showcased.

Features distinctive, thick, waxy, heart-shaped leaves. The deep green leaves often have a dimpled or puckered texture in the center and may be lightly speckled with silvery flecks.

Flowering Period & Fruit

Once mature, it produces ball-shaped clusters of fuzzy, star-shaped, pale pink flowers with a reddish corona. The blooms have a sweet, often chocolate-like fragrance, especially in the evening.

Sun Tolerance

Prefers bright, indirect light. A spot with some gentle, direct morning sun can encourage flowering. Protect from hot, intense afternoon sun.

Maintenance

Easy. A very drought-tolerant plant perfect for beginners. Water thoroughly only when the soil has dried out completely. It thrives and flowers best when kept pot-bound. Do not remove old flower spurs (peduncles).

Root System

An epiphytic root system that requires a very chunky, airy, and fast-draining potting mix to prevent rot.
