Plant Details:

Mature height

Can grow into a tall indoor tree, reaching a height of 8–10 feet or more.

Mature width

Develops an upright, branching, tree-like form approximately 3–4 feet wide.

Spacing

A large floor plant that needs a permanent home in a bright spot where it won't be bumped, moved, or exposed to drafts.

Foliage

Features very large, leathery, and glossy leaves shaped like a violin (fiddle), with prominent veins. The deep green leaves grow up a central, woody trunk, creating a stunning, architectural form.

Flowering Period & Fruit

Flowering does not occur indoors. Note: The leaves are toxic to pets if ingested, and the milky sap can be a skin irritant.

Sun Tolerance

Requires a very bright spot with plenty of consistent, indirect sunlight. A location directly in front of an east-facing window is often ideal. It will not tolerate low light.

Maintenance

Moderate to High. This plant is famously sensitive to change. Water thoroughly only when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry, and allow the pot to drain completely. It is very prone to root rot from overwatering.

Root System

A robust but sensitive root system that requires a well-draining, chunky potting mix and is very susceptible to root rot.
