Ficus Elastica 'Burgundy'

Can grow into a large, tree-like specimen, reaching 6–10 feet tall indoors. It can be pruned to maintain a desired size.

Best as a standalone floor plant where its dramatic, dark foliage can be a major focal point.

Evergreen

Features large, thick, glossy leaves. New leaves unfurl from a bright red sheath and mature to a dark, rich burgundy or a green so deep it appears almost black.

Flowering is exceptionally rare indoors. Note: The milky white sap is a source of latex, can be a skin irritant, and is toxic if ingested. Not recommended for homes with pets that chew on plants.

Requires plenty of bright, indirect light to develop and maintain its deep burgundy color. In lower light, the color may fade to a duller green. Keep out of harsh, direct sun.

Easy. A very tough and forgiving plant. Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly. Wipe the large leaves with a damp cloth to keep them clean and glossy.

A strong, fibrous root system that prefers a chunky, well-aerating potting mix and is happy to be slightly pot-bound.
