Plant Details:

Mature height

The central crown remains compact, with arching and trailing stems that can reach 2–3 feet in length.

Mature width

Forms a very dense, sprawling mound that can grow to be 3–4 feet wide.

Ideal for large hanging baskets or containers where it has ample room to arch and spill ove

Foliage

Features long, arching stems densely covered in clusters of flat, needle-like, bright green foliage, giving it a full, feathery texture. Small, sharp spines are present along the stems.

Flowering Period & Fruit

Produces small, fragrant, pinkish-white flowers, followed by an abundance of bright red berries. The berries are toxic to humans and pets if ingested.

Sun Tolerance

Thrives in full sun to partial shade. For the densest growth, a location with several hours of direct sun is ideal. It is very heat tolerant.

Maintenance

Easy. A very durable and drought-tolerant plant. Water thoroughly when the soil feels dry. It is a vigorous grower and can be pruned back hard to rejuvenate or control its size.

Root System

Grows from a dense network of thick, water-storing tubers. This makes the plant extremely drought-tolerant but requires a well-draining potting mix to prevent rot.
