Mature height
In the landscape, it can grow to 20–30 feet. When grown in a container, its size is easily maintained at 6–10 feet with pruning.

Can reach a spread of 15–25 feet in the ground. In a container, its width can be maintained at 4–6 feet.

Plant at least 15 feet away from structures and walkways to allow for mature growth.

Features elegant, narrow, lance-shaped leaves. The tops of the leaves are a glossy, deep grey-green, while the undersides are a shimmering silvery-green.
Flowering Period & Fruit
Produces panicles of small, fragrant, creamy-white flowers in late spring. These are followed by green drupes (olives) that ripen to a showy black from mid-summer to early fall. Ripe fruit can be messy and stain hardscapes.
Sun Tolerance
Requires full, direct sun (at least 6-8 hours per day) to thrive and produce fruit.
Maintenance
Low. Extremely drought-tolerant once established. In containers, water thoroughly when the soil has dried out completely. Prune in the spring to shape. Requires well-draining soil.
Root System
Develops an extensive root system in the ground. In containers, the root system is fibrous and requires excellent drainage to prevent rot.
